ERCOT set to exit August with not a whimper but a bang
Today's day-ahead energy prices will reach their highest levels so far this summer
ERCOT day-ahead energy prices will reach into four-figures through the late afternoon and evening today, peaking at nearly $4,000/MWh in HE20 with the solar ramp down.
ERCOT has already issued a watch for a projected reserve capacity shortage and potential emergency conditions from HE19-21 today.
Demand for the next few days in ERCOT is forecast to again test all-time highs, while afternoon and evening wind will fall near summer lows—the perfect recipe for tight grid conditions and power price eruptions.
